When it comes to electing someone to serve on our local School Board, we must get it right. Student learning and student achievement require many people coming together with a shared vision - one that is focused on high expectations for all. The main focus should be on policies to improve student achievement. The community needs to trust that elected Board Members are using data (even when the information is negative) to seek solutions that lead to measurable improvement. In addition, it's important to comply with laws and remain true to the core mission.

We have an opportunity to support and elect a young man who can provide a fairly recent insight into the student experience. He has a proven track record of civic engagement and advocacy on many levels. He can offer fresh perspective on curriculum and technology and could certainly help bridge the generation gap. Evan Carlson will make informed, prudent decisions - in the best interest of ALL students. He will show up. He will prioritize the organizations goals over a personal agenda.
