When it comes to electing someone to serve on our local School Board, we must get it right. Student learning and student achievement require many people coming together with a shared vision - one that is focused on high expectations for all. The main focus should be on policies to improve student achievement. The community needs to trust that elected Board Members are using data (even when the information is negative) to seek solutions that lead to measurable improvement. In addition, it's important to comply with laws and remain true to the core mission.

We have an opportunity to support and elect a young man who can provide a fairly recent insight into the student experience. He has a proven track record of civic engagement and advocacy on many levels. He can offer fresh perspective on curriculum and technology and could certainly help bridge the generation gap. Evan Carlson will make informed, prudent decisions - in the best interest of ALL students. He will show up. He will prioritize the organizations goals over a personal agenda.

We support Evan Carlson and are confident he will act in good faith, making decisions based on careful consideration of all information. We are asking you to join us in supporting him.

Respectfully,

Evan Carlson has my vote! He cares deeply about young people. His parents are both teachers and he is graduate of the Alpena Public School System. His education and knowledge will be very valuable assets on the Alpena Public School Board.

A vote for Evan Carlson is a vote for a balanced voice on our Alpena Public School Board of Education. Evan's experience in working collaboratively with others, both professionally and as a community volunteer, make him a vote for a reasoned approach to decision making that impacts our school system and our APS students.

Hands down, Evan will be an amazing asset to Alpena Public Schools. He has a great perspective into what our kids need and how to approach it. I can’t wait to see him show up for my children!
